Project Duration

Description

The Ray Marshall Center entered into an agreement with the San Antonio Education Partnership to conduct an impact analysis to answer four research questions, a description of the study population, data and methodology used, and a review of the existing research that attempts to answer similar questions about the relationship between grant aid and student outcomes.  The four research questions are the following:

  1. What is the effect of receiving an SAEP scholarship on:
    • college enrollment in the first, second, third, and fourth year after high school, respectively;
    • degree completion (for Associate’s and Baccalaureate degrees) at 100%, 150%, and 200% of the expected time from college entry, respectively;
    • graduate degree obtainment by year ten; and
    • student debt.
  2. How do effect sizes vary by the type of higher education institution (community college, private four-year college, public four-year college) enrolled in?
  3. How do effect sizes vary by high school academic preparation (e.g., coursework, test score)?
  4. How do effect sizes vary by student social subgroups (defined by gender, race/ethnicity, income level, first-generation status)?
