Summary
Nuru Ghana works with smallholder farmers and emerging farmer organizations in the Upper East Region of Ghana to strengthen climate resilience, improve livelihoods, and support farmer-led agricultural growth. The program launched operations in 2024 with 1,170 registered farmers, 10 farmer groups, and five soybean demonstration plots. Through this early work, Nuru Ghana began introducing improved soybean production practices, climate-adaptive training, and cooperative-based support systems for farmers operating on small plots of land.  The 2024 baseline established a clear productivity gap.  Farmers produced an average of 278 kg/ha, while demonstration plots using improved inputs and practices produced 827.5 kg/ha.  In 2025, Nuru Ghana moved from baseline measurement toward early adoption by distributing a small-scale sample of approximately 160 input packages across 20 farmer groups. Farmers averaged 143 kg/acre, or roughly 353 kg/ha, representing a 27% yield increase over the 2024 farmer baseline.  The strongest signal from 2025 came from continued demonstration plot performance.  Together, the 2024 and 2025 demonstration plot results suggest that the program’s next challenge is helping farmers consistently adopt the practices that drive higher productivity.
